MANDATORY COACHES CLINIC WITH ASHLEY'S SOCCER:
All coaches and assistant coaches are required to attend this clinic which will assist you in understanding your responsibilities as a parent/coach for the upcoming 2009 season. There will be two clinics:
(1) For Kindergarten through 4th grade coaches: 9/3/09 from 6PM-7:30PM at Continental Soldier's
(2) For 5th through 8th grade coaches: 9/3/09 from 7:30-9PM at Continental Soldier's Field
Please feel free to invite anyone else who may have interest in these clinics.
Remember, for the 1st-4th grade coaches only, you are a parent coach. You will be trained by a professional Ashley's trainer through 10/31/09. During the first 4 practices, you will be a more passive onlooker while being trained. From practice week #5-8, you will take a more leadership role in practices so that by week 7, you will be running the practices with the trainer taking a more passive onlooker role. For practice weeks 9 and 10, you will run the practice without an Ashley trainer present.
COACHING REQUIREMENTS:
Those interested in coaching must comply with the following:
(1) Pass the Rutger's Certification Class (certificate is "good for life")
(2) Pass the Mahwah Background Check (certification is good for 2 years - see details on the main Mahwah Youth Sports website)
www.mahwahyouthsports.org. Background Check Badges must be worn at all practices and games. You must bring one of the following forms of ID with you:
NJ or other United States Drivers License
United States Passport
Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state

(3) Coaches are responsible for returning all equipment to the equipment manager at the end of the season. Moreover, all coaches of NWBSA teams must retrieve the uniforms given to their players on the last game of the season and return it to the League. The League will get them washed so please inform your team to bring a change of clothes to the last game.
COACHES CHECKLIST FOR EVERY PRACTICE AND/OR GAME:
(1) Check the field for safety issues.
(2) Check the goal and the nets
(3) Never leave the equipment box with the lid in the open position.
(4) Please tell your Division Head if supplies are needed for the equipment box.
(5) Return all equipment after every practice and/or game.
(6) Put away the corner flags unless there is a game following yours AND the coach is at the field.
(7) Fold & put the soccer nets back in the box.
(8) Lock the equipment box when finished with your practice and/or game.
(9) MAKE SURE EVERY PLAYER HAS A RIDE HOME BEFORE LEAVING THE FIELD!!
WHAT SHOULD BE IN THE EQUIPMENT BOX?
(1) An adequate amount of soccer balls to run your practices.
(2) Corner Flags
(3) Cones to use for practices
(4) First Aid Kit
